The inaugural We Care: Sustainability Competition, guided by the College of Management (CoM) at National Taipei University of Technology (NTUT), organized by the NTUT Department of Business Management Alumni Association, and sponsored by Sun Yang Optics Co., Ltd., was established to encourage students of NTUT's CoM to apply creative thinking to the realization of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The competition also actively integrates local community care and industry collaboration. The awards ceremony for this event was held on November 23rd, 2024, as part of the 2024 Wisdom Forum.
In the academic category, two participants were selected by a panel of judges, which included Professor Qian-Yi Huang from the IEM Department, Professor Rong-Fa Tsai from the BM Department, and Associate Professor Liang-Chih Liu from the IFM Departmen. The winners were doctoral students Tang-Min Xie (advised by Professor Kai-Ying Chen) from the CoM's doctoral program and Fei-Long Huang from the IEM Department's doctoral program. Both received a prize of NT$3,000. However, the We Care Excellence in Academic Journals Award was not awarded this year.
In the practical category, proposals were reviewed by a judging panel comprising Associate Professor Liang-Chih Liu (IFM Department), Assistant Professor Xin-Wei Xu (IEM Department), Chairman Pin-Feng Chen (An Jie Hotel Management Group), Chairman Sheng-Che Wu (Sun Yang Optics), and General Manager Chun-Hua Qiu (Chun-Hung Technology Co., Ltd.). Three teams were selected to receive a grant of NT$30,000 each to execute their SDG-related projects. The five judges evaluated the execution and alignment of the projects with SDGs from both academic and industrial perspectives. After hours of deliberation, the following top three teams received the We Carry Out Implementation Team Award:
The first We Care: Sustainability Competition concluded amid applause, but the effort to advance SDGs continues.
