2026-07-13 Advancing Teaching Quality and Global Engagement: Insights from the 2026 AACSB Asia Pacific Accreditation Conference

Vice Dean Liang-Chih Liu and Accreditation Manager Herbert Liu of the College of Management at National Taipei University of Technology participated in the 2026 AACSB Asia Pacific Accreditation Conference to gain a comprehensive understanding of the latest developments in AACSB’s global business education accreditation standards, particularly the institutional and operational implications of the 2026 Global Standards Refresh. The conference covered key topics including revisions to the accreditation standards, accreditation documentation, strategic planning, continuous improvement, and societal impact.

One of the most significant changes is the increasing emphasis on Teaching Effectiveness within the framework of Faculty Qualifications and Sufficiency (FQS). This development indicates that AACSB’s evaluation of faculty is expanding beyond traditional measures such as academic credentials, research output, professional experience, and teaching assignments to include actual teaching quality, student learning outcomes, and faculty members’ commitment to continuous professional development. In response, the College will need to further integrate its FQS system with Assurance of Learning (AoL), teaching evaluations, peer observations, and faculty development mechanisms to establish a more comprehensive and measurable framework for teaching effectiveness.

The keynote sessions also emphasized the importance of moving from “Purpose” to “Impact.” Business schools are expected to align their missions and strategies with teaching, research, and social responsibility, while demonstrating measurable contributions to industry, society, and key stakeholders. These insights provide valuable guidance for the College’s future efforts in promoting societal impact, sustainability education, industry collaboration, and internationalization.

During the conference, Vice Dean Liang-Chih Liu and Accreditation Manager Herbert Liu also actively expanded the College’s international partnerships. They met with representatives from Chiang Mai University Business School and UNSW Business School to discuss potential cooperation in areas including memoranda of understanding, EMBA overseas academic visits, curriculum design, syllabus development, innovative teaching, and faculty and student exchanges. Following the conference, the delegation visited Chiang Mai University Business School to gain a deeper understanding of its academic facilities, curriculum operations, learning spaces, and international cooperation resources.

Overall, the trip generated three major outcomes: professional learning in accreditation, institutional enhancement, and the expansion of international partnerships. These outcomes will serve as an important foundation for the College of Management at National Taipei University of Technology as it responds to AACSB’s updated standards, strengthens teaching quality, and deepens its global engagement.
